About the All England Lawn Tennis Club Community Sports Ground

The All England Lawn Tennis Club Community Sports Ground is a privately-owned site located in Raynes Park, London. It is owned by the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) and is located 3.5miles from Centre Court.

At the heart of the Community Sports Ground is a Pay & Play tennis centre which is open to the public for casual play, individual and group coaching sessions.

The tennis centre is used by the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative for their weekend coaching sessions.

During the build up to The Championships, the Ball Boys and Ball Girls also use the centre for their training, which can impact on the availability of facilities.

The AELTC acquired the 20 acre site in 1990. Over the years, the site has been used to support The Championships through the provision of six grass courts and also used by local schools for athletics and football.

In 2016, the Club further developed the ground, constructing six acrylic courts, three of which are covered by an inflatable dome. In June 2016, the new facilities were opened by AELTC Chairman Philip Brook, Sir Andy Murray, Jamie Murray OBE, Tim Henman OBE and Jordanne Whiley MBE.

The facilities at the Community Sports Ground include six grass courts and six acrylic hard courts. The acrylic courts are Plexipave, which is the surface used at the Australian Open. Three of the courts are covered by a pressurised dome which is inflated all year round.

The grass courts are open from May to September. Operating hours of the grass courts vary depending upon weather conditions and rainfall. Before and during the Championships the grass courts are used to provide practise facilities for players competing in the grass court events. After the Championships, courts may be made available for community tennis sessions, subject to availability and weather conditions.

There are male and female changing facilities, however there are currently no shower facilities. We have male, female & disabled toilets and there is a break out area to relax in.
